Upon learning about the COVID-19 outbreak in Wuhan, Hubei, and its growing impact, CU immediately launched an overseas donation channel for students to support Wuhan. All funds raised were dedicated to purchasing medical supplies and protective equipment, contributing to pandemic prevention efforts back home!"
January 30
As of January 30, CU had raised a total of 101,982 RMB from 432 donors, with an average donation of 236.07 RMB per person. Supplies included: 500 medical goggles, sent to frontline medical staff at Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University; 1,200 3M/N95 masks donated in collaboration with Henan public welfare organization ‘Paotong Huakai’ (1,000 masks were sent to Luotian County People’s Hospital in Huanggang, Hubei, and 200 masks to Xinxian County Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Xinyang, Henan); in partnership with the Pingfan Heroes Foundation, CU also coordinated the procurement and donation of 2,200 protective suits and 3,000 N95 medical masks (distributed to Xiaotangshan Hospital in Huanggang, Jinyintan Hospital, and Union Hospital in Wuhan).
February 21
As of February 21, CU had raised a total of 120,370 RMB and $320 USD. The second batch of supplies included: 1,000 N95 masks (distributed to Henan Provincial People's Hospital, the Fifth Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University, and Henan Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine); and the third batch of supplies included 5,000 protective suits (3,400 suits sent to Xiangshan Avenue 168, Jingmen, Hubei, and 1,600 suits to Dabieshan Regional Medical Center at the Central Hospital in Huanggang, Hubei). CU joined hands with Chinese public welfare organizations and dedicated individuals (Pingfan Heroes Foundation, Shenzhen Zhiji, Shenzhen Youth League, Tencent Charity, the China Youth Uniform Team Development Center, the Juvenile Police Shenzhen Headquarters Office, the Shenzhen Family Education Association, Vedi Technology, the Shenzhen Youth Science Association, the United Nations South-South Center, and Lexin Charity) to procure a total of 1,650 kg of professional medical protective supplies across various states in the United States.
March 16
With the initial containment of the pandemic in China, CU officially closed the donation channel. CU independently raised nearly 1.57 million RMB in total, facilitating the donation of approximately 1 million RMB worth of supplies. CU then shifted its focus to supporting students overseas and ensuring their well-being during this challenging period.
